Section of the Raglan frieze, c.1513, which was the subject of one of the Time Galleries made with Dr John Morgan-Guy. The frieze had been photographed in part for the previous volume, but I photographed the entire frieze again during a subsequent visit and digitally combined all the photographs into two long images, one of which was also used in the new Raglan Castle Guide. |

I contributed a section to the Time Gallery which explored the revival of interest in Celtic Christian monuments and design in Wales from the nineteenth century onwards until the present day. This page shows one of the tiles from Warpool Court, many of which use Celtic design. (main photograph & layout MC). |

Tracing the understanding and interpretation of the visual culture of medieval Wales over the centuries led to the creation of further Time Galleries which considered the roles of conservation and recovery, as well as the revival of pilgrimage and the idea of the ancient British church. Occasionally these journeys crossed paths with the succeeding research project, Imaging the Bible in Wales, as shown by this window of Welsh saints from the 1950s by Celtic Studios, Brynmill, Swansea. This window was also featured in the centrespread of Maurice Broady's A Vision Fulfilled (2010), a book that I designed and contributed new colour photography for. |
